- Required Electrophysiology Experience - Required Description:
This position cares for patients before, during, and after
angiography and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures,
as well as other diagnostic testing and procedures.
Responsibilities include pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication,
documentation of the catheterization process, post-cardiac care,
and patient education. The nurse will scrub in for procedures and
assist other members of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Nursing care for catheterization/angiography cardiovascular
patients will be performed, along with conducting other cardiac
diagnostic nursing procedures according to department protocols.
Assistance in stress echocardiograms, routine treadmill exams,
nuclear and pharmacologic stress testing, tilt table tests, and
echocardiograms will be provided. The nurse will evaluate and
screen patients for safety prior to performing procedures. Sedation
monitoring will be conducted in accordance with hospital policy,
with appropriate documentation. Holter monitor application, event
monitor application, and ambulatory blood pressure monitor
application will be performed. The nurse will insert PICC lines and
function as a vascular access expert to meet patients' needs. Other
necessary tasks may be assigned by the manager as required.
Operating equipment and managing supplies, including cardiac
output, hemodynamic monitoring, pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon
pumps, crash carts, IV pumps, defibrillators, point-of-care
glucometer testing, and stress machines, will also be needed. The
nurse will scrub in for procedures with the physician. All
pertinent information will be recorded on appropriate data sheets.
The nurse will develop, review, and enhance cardiovascular
